Terry Welbourn and Simon Brighton formed Sinking Ships in 1979 with Colin Hopkirk and Nick Green. In 1980, the band recorded: I Start, Smiles and Guns, A Sinking Ship, Third World and Weight Loss. After Colin left they recorded, The Cinema Clock and Strangers, released as a single in the autumn of 1980.
